The Ups and Downs of PvP Testing

Blog #9

So, we’ve reached a big milestone: testing the PvP mode for Battle Fog Chess! I was pumped to get some real feedback from players, so naturally, I took to Twitter and Reddit to find some brave souls willing to test it out. After all, what better way to see if our new feature is battle-ready than by putting it in the hands of real players?

I crafted what I thought was a pretty solid post—inviting, engaging, with just the right amount of intrigue. I hit “post” on Reddit, eager to see the feedback roll in. Then, boom! My post got removed. Apparently, I was promoting my own content, and that’s a big no-no in some communities.

Was I bummed? Sure. But live and let live, right? The rules are there for a reason, and I respect that. Besides, there’s always another way. I regrouped, reaching out to a few friends and contacts directly, and got a handful of testers on board.

Despite the initial hiccup, the testing was a success. The feedback we gathered was invaluable, giving us insights into what’s working well and what still needs tweaking. Plus, it was a thrill to see players from different parts of the world going head-to-head in a game that started as just an idea in my head.

So, while my first foray into the wilds of social media promotion didn’t go quite as planned, we’re still moving forward. PvP mode is shaping up nicely, and I can’t wait to see how it evolves with even more player feedback.

Until next time, stay tuned for more updates—and maybe, just maybe, I’ll crack the code on those Reddit posts!
